HighLight of the month

April is a key month for verification. For firms planning to report compliance to the CFA Institute by June 30th with verification as of December 31, 2025, submitting data to your verifier promptly is essential. At EVIV Group, we uphold our commitment to clients by guaranteeing completion of verifications by June 30th, providing a reliable and timely process.

Question of the month

Question: How should firms handle reporting of composite fees under GIPS standards?

Answer:
Firms must ensure that all fees—advisory, wrap, or performance-based—are clearly disclosed for each composite, so that clients and prospective investors can accurately compare net-of-fee performance across different portfolios. For example, a firm might disclose:
“Net-of-fee returns are calculated after deducting all advisory and wrap fees. Portfolios in this composite pay an annual advisory fee of 0.50% of assets and a wrap fee of 0.25% of assets. Performance-based fees are applied where applicable and are reflected in the net-of-fee returns.”

Word of the month

GIPS Verification – The independent assessment that a firm’s policies and procedures comply with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). Verification provides transparency and strengthens credibility, confirming that composites are constructed and reported according to GIPS rules. It does not guarantee the accuracy of returns, although firms can request additional reviews if they want a higher level of assurance.
